mivenion is committed to develop the next generation of tailored therapeutics for treatment of inflammation and autoimmune diseases. Discovery and development candidates belong to the class of polymer drugs and combine strengths of small molecule chemistry and multi-valency of macromolecules. A novel mode of antiinflammatory action provides a therapeutic alternative for patients who do no longer respond to available treatments.

Autoimmune diseases comprise a variety of different medical conditions, where an overreaction of the immune system targets own tissue leading to organ or tissue damage. Today, more than 60 different autoimmune diseases are known, covering organ specific, systemic, and intermediate forms. Autoimmune diseases comprise, amongst others, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and systemic lupus erythematosus.

Effective treatment of the majority of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases relies on a combination of drugs with different modes of action. In this regard, the clinical evolution of biological drugs during the last two decades has confirmed that blockage of more than only one disease mechanism may lead to long lasting remissions in certain autoimmune diseases. mivenion’s development candidates utilizing a novel mode of action will substantially add to established drug treatments and improve overall therapeutic efficacy.

Together with our drug development, diagnostic labels of the candidates are used to further optimize drug treatment outcome. This encompasses labels for fluorescence imaging or SPECT / PET. Thus our development candidates perfectly match the demand for personalized medical treatment.
